By road, it takes around 90 mins to reach from Nagpur. Ram Navami & Tipur Pornima are big festivals are celebrated here You may visit if you want to visit a temple as this is the most famous temple around Nagpur. A very big temple of Lord Ram is here. Its a bhonsle dynasty temple architecture is very big & beautiful. Some renovation work is going on my last visit. This Gadh Mandir is situated at Ram Tekadi ( Ram Hill ) in Ratek. Overall, very good experience as a half-day trip from Nagpur. Restrooms are not in best of the shapes, and can certainly be improved for convenience of visitors. The view of Ramtek city from the top of the temple walls are breathtaking.

The temples are very we maintained and clean. The fort and temple are easily accessible with not more than 50 steps all combined, I guess.

I didn’t see any signage of ASI etc, and I hope the fort and temple is preserved, documented from archeological perspective as well, if not already being done. The present day temple was built by Nagpur’s Maratha ruler Raghuji Bhosale in 18th century… I assumed that the fort was probably built by Marathas also. All I got to find out that this houses a place for Agastya-muni ashram, near which Lord Rama with his family came and stayed for some time during their exile. Still, I felt there’s not much information available either on the government tourism websites or open internet. This was somewhat a hurriedly planned trip, and hence, did not have the opportunity to research. A Swift Dzire rented car charged Rs.3,000. 1.5 hours each way, 1-1.5 hours to visit the fort, temple, Kalidasa memorial etc., and if one wants to make a stop for breakfast/lunch (we stopped at MKHS plaza on the highway) - altogether 5-5.5 hours should be sufficient.
